  • I read many books with subject content similar to this, and each one provides me with a little more knowledge and also fear. Most important to Dr. Lustig is protect the liver, feed the gut, and it's not what is in the food, but what's been done to the food. Processed food clearly is not healthy for anyone, but it is difficult to change and maintain eating patterns. The fear for me, is the possibility that real food, that I most often try to prepare, is often not as healthy as it once was, given environmental and business decisions (such as selective outbreeding to make sweeter produce which breeds out micronutrients).


    The book is sometimes too cutesy. It is a dense book and meant for sophisticated readers, but using silly comparisons are distracting and just make me want to skim the rest. It is also too political, as others have stated.


    Nevertheless, the book imparts important information, and I wish that my loved ones would read it.
